What does my crew actually have to do?

Sign in once, then work. They punch in at the start of the day and out at the end. Visits record themselves after ten minutes on a customer's site, so there is nothing to remember and nothing to fill in later. Jobs, photos and notes are there if you want them.

Is this just tracking, or can I run jobs on it?

You can run jobs on it. Send work to a person or a site, set a time window, add a checklist, and repeat it weekly if it is a regular call. You get a board of what is assigned, en route and done, plus a day plan ordered from where people actually are.

How do hours get into payroll?

Punches become a weekly timesheet. You approve the week, which locks it, then export for Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or plain CSV. Your rounding and overtime rules are applied at export, so the numbers leaving match the numbers you approved.

Does it drain the battery?

It is a high-accuracy tracker, so it uses more than a weather app. Two things keep it sensible: it goes quiet when someone stops moving, and it does not run outside the shift hours you set. Most battery complaints turn out to be the phone's own power saver killing the app, so there is a screen in the app that tells a worker exactly which setting to change on their make of phone.

What if there is no signal?

Everything keeps working. Punches, notes and readings wait on the phone and upload when signal comes back, carrying the time they really happened. They upload in order, so a late upload cannot shuffle the day around. Basements and rural gaps are normal.

Will my staff accept it?

They take it better when they can see it. Tracking only runs during the hours you set, and the app shows each worker exactly what is held about them — counted, not summarised. They can export their own record whenever they like. When there is an argument about unpaid hours, the same record backs them up.

What if someone fakes their location?

There are apps that make a phone report a false position. We spot those readings and keep them, marked as fake. They never count toward a visit, a mileage claim or an hours total, but they stay visible — including in anything you send out.

Can I fix something that is wrong?

Yes. Edit it, and the old value stays in the record with your name and the time against it. Nothing is quietly overwritten. That is what makes a genuine correction look like a correction rather than a cover-up.

Do I need to do anything to stay on the right side of the law?

We cannot give legal advice and you should get your own. What we can do is make the honest version easy: limit collection to working hours, show workers their own record, let them export it, set how long data is kept, and delete it properly when you are done.
